Member Participation Activities

EarthShare NC programs and activities are designed to introduce and connect individuals and businesses with the work of our nonprofit Members. These programs are fueled by Member participation in programs, networking functions, promoting your participation, and more. In addition, participation in these activities makes Members eligible for a share of the undesignated campaign revenue and corporate revenue.

New this year: Prior to this year, Members completed a certain number of hours to be eligible for the full share of undesignated.  Pending board approval, the Member Committee recommends replacing the hours requirement with the following plan:

Members will participate in one activity from Section A and two activities from Section B over the course of the calendar year to be eligible to receive a share of undesignated funds from campaigns and Corporate Partner revenue. Partial completion of activities will result in partial receipt of the undesignated and corporate revenue.

Beginning in 2025, Members will also be given the option to sign up for a 1:1 biennial participation planning meeting, rather than a required meeting every other year.  These meetings allow Members to further discuss participation opportunities, how EarthShare NC can support your goals in the year ahead and explore any questions you may have. These one-on-one meetings are a valuable way to deepen your involvement and make the most of your membership! EarthShare NC will reach out to Members on the even-year meeting rotation to schedule your annual meeting. If your organization is not on this schedule but would like to meet, please let us know.

Section A

Our Fall program includes virtual educational and consulting sessions, a calendar of community events, and an in-person Summit. Members can participate by:  

  • Being a speaker or facilitator for a virtual webinar or the in-person Summit
  • Hosting an engagement opportunity for the Calendar of Events

Our Spring program matches business teams with environmental nonprofits for a day of volunteering and competition for the Earth Day Challenge Awards. Educational and networking events open and close the program. Members can participate by:

Five virtual meetings throughout the year for Partners and Members to network and share resources. EarthShare NC will coordinate logistics, marketing, and facilitation. Dates and general registration can be found here. Members can present:

  • A story, program, project, and perhaps a challenge for attendees to know about.
  • Earth Day Events Advisory Committee
  • NC Climate Week Advisory or Implementation Committee
  • Executive Committee
  • Governance Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Member Committee

Section B

  • Promote our coalition’s involvement in Employee Giving Campaigns
    • From September to November, we represent your organizations in employee giving campaigns and Members can promote EarthShare NC and your organizations during this time. We provide Members shareable content through the campaign toolkit and weekly digest emails Members can promote through social media posts, e-newsletters, and email signatures.
  • Be a Corporate Partner Program promoter by sharing details about one of our programs on your social media channels four times in the lead-up to the event. This can be a post and/or story share.
  • Invite EarthShare NC to make a presentation to your board.
  • Provide tickets to EarthShare NC to attend special events that will be attended by corporate prospects
  • Coordinate a meeting with a new Corporate Partner prospect and EarthShare NC.
  • Attend the Triangle or Charlotte Corporate Partner reception.
  • Attend the Earth Day Events Lunch Celebration, a mid-day celebration and networking event in both the Triangle and Charlotte areas.
    • Charlotte: Fri. April 4, 12-2pm
