Generation to Generation Expansion Campaign

For thirty years, the EarthShare North Carolina coalition has worked together to do one thing: strengthen the capacity of the environmental movement.

Over this time, we have inspired four generations to become stewards of our environment, from Baby Boomers to Gen Z. People from each generation bring their lived experiences that inspire and motivate them to take part, and EarthShare NC speaks to those motivations to engage and empower them. For Gen Z, this generation brings an urgency for action to address climate change impacts and an unwavering expectation of equity and inclusion in environmental work and solutions.

As EarthShare NC enters our fourth decade, we ask you to join Generation Z’s call to action to be inclusive, equitable, and to address the most pressing and urgent environmental issue of our day. EarthShare NC nonprofits and corporate partners are primarily located in the two most urban areas of our state; leaving many of North Carolina’s communities underserved and facing the most direct impacts from environmental challenges. We seek to represent the diverse geography, people, and environmental needs of the state more completely by implementing a plan for expansion that strengthens the nonprofit community that serves these people, areas, and needs. Already we connect more than 1000 people each year with environmental programs and tools that educate and empower people to make a difference; our call to action is that we must – and can – reach thousands more.

We are asking individuals who are passionate about the health of North Carolina and its people related to the health of our environment, to invest in this expansion. It means bringing thousands more people to understand and find their personal connection to take part in solutions.

Community Impact Plan

  • We will hire a Field Director to recruit nonprofits that serve local and underserved communities, that are located throughout North Carolina, and that speak to the concerns of Gen Z. In return, we will have more people in more places to connect people with local community needs.
  • Our team will recruit new Corporate Partners in and around the communities where those nonprofits work to connect their employees with information about how to support and take part in environmental solutions.

Request

  • If you are so able, please make a financial contribution to our campaign!
  • In recognition of this gift, all donors will be included in our Annual Report and on the Generation to Generation Expansion Campaign page on our website.

Highlighting this adorable bog turtle for #wildlif Highlighting this adorable bog turtle for #wildlifewednesday with @ncwildlifefed • • • 🐢🌄🐢 Bog turtles - a federally threatened species - have begun nesting. Unlike most turtles, this rare species doesn't excavate a nest in soil, but conceals its small egg clutch in a moss, grass or sedge tussock. They reside in wetlands along the Appalachian Mountains into the Blue Ridge Escarpment and parts of the North Carolina Piedmont. Their population has dwindled because of habitat loss and fragmentation, invasive species, land development and the illegal pet trade. Follow Sprout Link to read our blog to learn about conservation efforts to help bog turtles and other species.
