Climate Change in NC

Through choice of in-person engagement and virtual content, employees will learn about the causes and impacts of climate change in NC, what EarthShare NC Nonprofit Members are doing to bring about solutions, and how they can take action to mitigate the impacts in their local community.

Webinar: Learn about the likely effects of global climate change on the ecosystems and people of the Blue Ridge Mountains and hear a discussion of the adaptation and mitigation strategies needed to maintain these beautiful mountains.

Interactive Website: Although a changing climate is inevitable, interventions to lower our current emissions of carbon dioxide and methane can help tremendously. Use these interactive tools to learn about sources, solutions, and EDFs role in these strategies.

Training: Learn about climate change solutions, impacts, and policy from up to date, recorded webinars you can watch anytime. Give yourself the knowledge and tools to really make a difference with a program tailored to beautiful NC.

Through choice of in-person engagement and virtual content, employees gain a greater understanding of DEI, explore the history of systemic racism and inequity in NC, hear from the communities most negatively impacted by environmental harm, and how EarthShare NC Nonprofit Members are working to bring about equitable change throughout local communities.

Webinar: Daisha Williams, Environmental Justice Manager at CleanAIRE NC, discusses the challenges and benefits of empowering a healthy and climate-resilient community in Charlotte’s Historic West End, one of the city’s oldest African American communities.

Podcast: Systemic racism is discrimination based on race and ethnicity that is embedded in the laws and culture of our society. Join the NC Sustainable Energy Association in this discussion of equity and inclusion in the clean energy industry.

In-Person Engagement: Learn about the history of various NC State Parks in relation to segregation and slavery and visit sites on your own time to first-handedly experience the importance of these protected lands and stories from mountains to sea.

Water Conservation in NC

Through choice of in-person engagement and virtual content, employees learn about the issues affecting NC waterways, the communities most negatively impacted, and what EarthShare NC Nonprofit Members are doing – and what employees can do – to protect this vital resource.

Webinar: According to the EPA, more than forty percent of polluted water are affected solely by non-point pollution sources. How does the average person contribute to this statistic? What actions can I take to reduce my impact? Join the North Carolina Wildlife Federation in this important conversation to protect our waterways.

Documentary: Sound Rivers’ 40th anniversary documentary highlights their work with local riverkeepers in the fight against Duke Energy. They recognize that pollution doesn’t affect everyone equally, depending on race, economic status, etc. Host your own screening and discussion of this amazing film with your family, friends, or colleauges!

In-Person Engagement: Volunteer with our state’s riverkeepers and help them advocate for the river’s health, monitor water quality, and even conduct your own research.
