What can I say? I was lucky enough to be born in North Carolina. My best childhood memories are of rafting on the Eno River, hiking at Grandfather Mountain, crabbing at the Outer Banks, and visiting my grandparents in the foothills of NC. I am fortunate to have landed this job 15 years ago, getting to take care of these special places as part of the team at EarthShare NC. When I started working in the conservation field, I quickly decided that the best thing I could do to make a difference was to strengthen the work of the nonprofit organizations that are devoted to taking care of these natural treasures and the health of our environment. Why? Because nonprofits like Triangle Land Conservancy, NC Sustainable Energy Association, and NC Coastal Federation are focused on one thing every day – protecting our air, land, water, and wildlife.
As part of EarthShare NC, I get to do exactly that. I help protect the health of all NC, by bringing more people and resources to sustain 30 nonprofits working in the mountains, the coast, and everywhere in between, as well as nonprofits working nationally.
EarthShare NC is driven by a fantastic board of volunteers who decided that, for our 25th Anniversary, they would create a Fund that helps our work continue for the next 25 years. I’ve made my contribution, and ask that you consider joining me in strengthening the conservation movement by making a gift as well.
